You could freee use volume automation to fade your MIDI regions. I have to disagree with David a little about always using the volume automation. In your fadde section the one in the inspector to the right the audio chain goes from the top to the bottom so you can change your volume in many different ways.

As an example, let's say that you have a compressor THEN a reverb. C want to kill the audio of the track slowly but want to keep the audio tail of the reverb. To do this you could either use the gain control in your compressor or send your track to a buss with a reverb and actually use the volume fader on the first track.
